Bereits 2022 war Sine Meta Drom als Eröffnungsfilm im Milieukino zu sehen, dass den Film direkt an seinen Entstehungsort brachte. Im Dezember 2023 gastiert das mobile Kino nun erneut am Praterstern und erweitert das Programm passend zum Spielort vor dem Flucc um den Film FLUC – fluctuated rooms am Praterstern und ist im Milieukino zwischen den Vorstellungen von Sine Meta Drom bei freiem Eintritt zu sehen (Sitzplananzahl: 15; first come, first served).

Sine Meta Drom

Ein Film von Max Kaufmann

Der Film Sine Meta Drom wirft einen poetischen Blick auf den Ort Praterstern und die Menschen, die ihn lebendig machen. Verrufen als Umschlagplatz von Kriminalität und Drogen, wurde der Praterstern zu einem medial aufgeheitzten Hotspot, dem von politischer Seite ein öffentliches Alkoholverbot und polizeiliche Überpräsenz entgegengesetzt wurde. Zusätzlich sollte dem Platz mit Umbauarbeiten im Jahr 2022 ein neues Image verpasst werden.

Sine Meta Drom wurde während dieser Umbauphase gedreht und verflechtet den baulichen Umbruch sowie das rege menschliche Treiben, das gleich neben Wiens größter öffentlichen Vergnügungsstätte, dem Wurstelprater, zu beobachten ist, mit dessen Mentalität zu einer skurrilen Wirklichkeit.

Als eine kinematografische sowie cineastische Achterbahnfahrt verwebt der Film Stop-Motion- Sequenzen mit darstellerischen Szenen und bannt so das Karussel des täglichen Lebens auf Zelluloid. Sine Meta Drom stellt damit einen berüchtigten Platz in neuen Fokus, der unerwartete Geschichten erzählt und diesen belebt, ebenso wie die Menschen selbst.

Dieses filmische Kulturdokument zeigt in spannenden Details und unter atmosphärischer Aufladung, wie der einstige „blinde Fleck“ des Praterstern die Transformation zum sozio-kulturellen Attraktor einer Weltstadt erlebt. Die geschichtenumwobene ehemalige Bedürfnisanstalt samt der aufgelassenen Unterführung des Bahnhofsgeländes Wien Nord / Praterstern bildet den Ausgangspunkt für ein ausnehmend innovatives Vorhaben.

Der Film entstand Mitte der 2000er Jahre ebenfalls während Umbauarbeiten am Praterstern und dokumentiert die Entstehungsgeschichte des Fluc, beziehungsweise das Spannungsfeld aus städtischer Baupolitik und künstlerischem Betrieb.

Milieu Kino

Von außen wirkt das Millieu Kino wie ein unscheinbarer LKW, doch mit nur einem Handgriff wird die Rückseite des LKW-Ladekoffers in ein Foyer mit Kassa und Bar verwandelt. Dem Kino fehlt es an nichts, was man von traditionellen Kinos gewohnt ist: Die Neon-Leuchtschrift, die Plakatvitrinen, die gepolsterten Klappsessel auf der absteigenden Tribüne mit 15 Sitzplätzen, sowie ein 35mm-Film-Projektor sind vorhanden.

Das Milieu Kino ist ein Projekt von Max Kaufmann an dem er in den letzten zehn Jahren parallel zum Betrieb im Odeon Theater gearbeitet hat. Der LKW wird an diversen Orten stehen, an denen unterschiedliche Filmprojekte gezeigt werden. Die erste Station des Kinos ist der Wiener Praterstern. Das Milieu Kino soll als Plattform für Künstler*innen etabliert werden. Spontan aufstellbar und unübersehbar schafft es Aufmerksamkeit und wird damit zum Treffpunkt für ein vielschichtiges Publikum.

In 2022, Sine Meta Drom was shown as the opening film at the Milieukino, which brought the film directly to its place of origin. In December 2023, the mobile cinema will once again make a guest appearance at Praterstern and expand the program to include the film FLUC - fluctuated rooms am Praterstern to match the venue in front of the Flucc and can be seen in the Milieukino between screenings of Sine Meta Drom with free admission (number of seats: 15; first come, first served).

The film Sine Meta Drom takes a poetic look at the Praterstern and the people who bring it to life. Notorious as a hub of crime and drugs, Praterstern has become a hotspot of media attention, which has been countered by politicians with a public alcohol ban and excessive police presence. In addition, the square was to be given a new image with renovation work in 2022.

Sine Meta Drom was filmed during this renovation phase and interweaves the structural upheaval and the lively human activity that can be observed right next to Vienna's largest public amusement park, the Wurstelprater, with its mentality to create a bizarre reality.

As a cinematographic and cinematic rollercoaster ride, the film interweaves stop-motion sequences with acting scenes and thus captures the carousel of daily life on celluloid. Sine Meta Drom puts a new focus on a notorious place that tells unexpected stories and enlivens it, just like the people themselves.

This cinematic cultural document shows in exciting detail and with atmospheric charge how the former "blind spot" of Praterstern is undergoing its transformation into a socio-cultural attractor of a cosmopolitan city. The history-steeped former public convenience store and the abandoned underpass of the Vienna North / Praterstern station area form the starting point for an exceptionally innovative project.

The film was also made in the mid-2000s during renovation work on Praterstern and documents the history of the Fluc's creation and the tensions between urban building policy and artistic operations.

From the outside, the Millieu Kino looks like an inconspicuous truck, but with just a flick of the wrist, the back of the truck box is transformed into a foyer with a cash desk and bar. The cinema lacks nothing that one is used to from traditional cinemas: the neon signage, the poster display cases, the upholstered folding chairs on the descending grandstand with 15 seats, as well as a 35mm film projector are all there.

The Milieu Kino is a project by Max Kaufmann, which he has been working on for the last ten years in parallel with the Odeon Theater. The truck will be parked at various locations where different film projects will be shown. The cinema's first stop will be Vienna's Praterstern. Milieu Kino is to be established as a platform for artists. It can be set up spontaneously and is highly visible, attracting attention and thus becoming a meeting point for a diverse audience.
